Course Description:

Aerobic and Anaerobic Fitness will teach students individual lifestyle fitness skills.  Students taking this course will be put through various activities that will improve their physical fitness.  Activities will include strength /resistance training, agility training, and conditioning (ie:  weight lifting, running, yoga, P90X/Insanity workouts, CrossFit).

Course Outline:

The students will be given a strength training program to follow and what exercises they are to do which will include lifting weights.  They will be given how much weight they need to lift, adjustments will be made according to each person as needed.  Every four weeks the students’ repetitions and weights will be adjusted.

Two to three times a week the students will also be put through abdominal/core strengthening.

Two to three times a week, students will be put through work that will focus on flexibility or cardiovascular endurance.

General Expectations:

Students enrolled in classes at St. Francis High School are expected to:

  • Come to class on time and be prepared to engage in the learning process

  • Participate in all exercises to the best of their abilities

  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect at all times

  • Ask for help or clarification when needed

  • All other rules and regulations noted in the SFHS student agenda apply

  • School gym uniform

  • Socks and gym shoes

A  100 - 93

B+  89 - 88

C+  79 - 78

D+  69 - 68

F 59 and below

A - 92 - 90

Semester Grade Weight:

1st Quarter: 50%

2nd Quarter:  50%

No Semester Exam

Absence, Uniform, and Tardiness Policy:

  • If you are absent, you should make up the class time after school or during homeroom.  The makeup work must be completed within one week of the absence.

  • The student may be able to make up for the absence during a study hall if there is a teacher available during that study hall time.

  • Tardiness will result in the student losing points from their daily grade.

  • Every student is expected to be dressed for class every day.  Failure to dress for class will result in a zero for the day.  

  • Students must wear gym wear for class which includes, gym shorts, sweats, sleeved t-shirts, and gym shoes.

Locker Room:

Each student will receive a gym locker and a school-issued lock.  This locker is for storage of your physical education items, not storage for books, backpacks, etc.  The locker room will be locked during class time and no one will be allowed into it during class time.  

If your lock is lost or damaged you will have to buy a school-issued lock.  

You must remain at your assigned locker.  If you move to another locker you will lose all locker privileges for one week.  If it continues, you will lose your locker for the remainder of the semester.

If you are not in physical education class you will not have a locker.
