Welcome to Art

As high school art students, you will be exploring a wide range of media and techniques.  We will be very busy this year/semester and it is imperative for you to take responsibility for completing your work on time.  It is equally important to respect the rights of others in order to facilitate a creative and positive environment for everyone.  To help us do exactly that, here are your responsibilities and expectations:  (Please read, fill in the blanks, and sign the agreement)

Student Responsibilities

·        Come to class prepared with school agenda, pencil and sketchbook

·        Listen carefully to directions and take notes in sketchbook

·        Complete all projects by the posted due date

·        If you fall behind, come after school

·        Earn participation points by working consistently

·        Earn job/clean up points

·        Be an active learner 

Rules and Expectations

·        Be seated when the bell rings

·        Have your agenda signed before leaving the room

·        Pay close attention when the teacher is talking

·        Work quietly so that others may concentrate

·        Treat others respectfully

·        Use tools and materials only as instructed – keep it safe!

·        Turn in/put away/wash materials after use

·        Stay out of non-student areas

·        Give your best effort every day!

Consequences

·        Any inappropriate or disrespectful behavior will earn time after school

·        Tardies- two freebies, then 10 minutes after school for each additional one

·        Serve your time within 3 days of the infraction

·        Wasted class time may also earn time after school

·        Parents will be called if there is a problem

Rewards

·        Consistent effort and participation, will result in a higher grade

·        You can earn coupons and raffle tickets for good effort and attitude

·        Learn skills that may lead to a career in the arts or another field

·        Develop a life-long interest and appreciation for the visual arts 

Art Fees

This covers most of the consumable supplies and materials that you will use and keep.  Please bring a check for the appropriate amount during the first week of school.

·        Art 1 -  $15.00

·        Art 2-  $15.00

·        Painting- $10.00

·        Sculpture- $10.00

·        Art Studio- $15.00
